Resins for Structural Films

APS offers a series of polymers that can be used to prepare thermally stable, high modulus films. The films can be used alone in structural application or to reinforce laminates to increase their strength to weight ratio.

APS has developed a resin that can be used to prepare high modulus films (up to 15 GPa) with excellent thermal stability (Tg = 323°C). These films also have excellent UV stablility and hydrolytic stability.The films can be solution cast from common organic solvents. This high modulus film has been used to reinforce laminates to increase their strength to weight ratio, which is critical for applications like lighter- than-air vehicles, air supported domes, temporary/seasonal buildings, and large span structures.
